ACTIVITIES

Welcome to the foundation of Western thought!

Modern science, medicine, fiction, religion, art, philosophy, and thought can be traced back to the Ionian Coast where Ephesus was a major port city.

Ephesus

01

Ephesus is a huge archaeological site on the Aegean coast. It is known for it's historical and religious influence.

02

Ayasoluk

Ephesus Hostel is on Ayasoluk Hill. The original Ephesus and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Home to St. John's Basilica, the Artemis Temple, and a 14th Century Mosque.

Beaches

03

Beautiful, clear stony beaches backed by national forest; or long, flat sandy beaches; or secluded, shallow harbors with clay. The beaches are easy to access from Ephesus Hostel by mini-bus. Enjoy the sun and water!

Pamukkale

04

Brimming with mineral water and creating a terraced pathway from calcium deposits, Pamukkale is a breathtaking destination and easy to access with public transportation.

Day Trips

05

A common day trip is to Priene, Miletus and Didyma- three sites of the foundation of Western thought. Interested in medicine? Visit Pergamon instead. Superman? Go to Metropolis.

06

Izmir

Ancient Smyrna, believed to be the home of Homer; now Izmir, a bustling city with some sites and a beautiful coastal walk where you can rent a bicycle or take a ferry. Also a major transportation hub.
